Holy Family French Immersion Update
Increased enrollment and space constraints have made it necessary for French Immersion at Holy Family French Immersion Catholic Elementary School in Woodstock to begin at Senior Kindergarten beginning in September 2020.
Board of Trustees on Jean Vanier
John Jevnikar, Chair of the Board of Trustees, made the following statement: London District Catholic School Board is disheartened with the recently revealed news regarding the late Jean Vanier
Jean Vanier was the founder of L’Arche, an international organization that works for the creation and growth of homes, programs, and support networks for people with intellectual disabilities.
Results of an independent inquiry commissioned by L’Arche International revealed that Vanier was involved in a series of sexually abusive relationships, which involved the abuse of power and influence with a number of adult women, who were without disabilities. This occurred over the course of three decades.
The findings of the inquiry have left the Board of Trustees of the London District Catholic School Board in a state of shock and sadness. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of the abuse.
This news is especially upsetting to us since one of our schools bears the namesake of Jean Vanier. We will be working closely with our Jean Vanier community, our greater LDCSB community and the Diocese of London, as we reflect and assess the impact of the inquiry’s findings.
We are blessed to have a vibrant L’Arche community in the region and the LDCSB is very proud of our collaboration with L’Arche. The Trustees wish to express our unequivocal support for L’Arche London and the important work that they do each and every day.
